University of Georgia Civil War scholar Stephen Berry, author of “House of Abraham, Lincoln and the Todds, A Family Divided by War,” will give a talk at the Georgia Perimeter College Dunwoody Auditorium NC-1100 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27.

Berry’s talk is in conjunction with the national Lincoln exhibition, “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” currently at the GPC Dunwoody Library. A reception and tours of the exhibit will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition, which runs through April 3 at the library, was organized by the National Constitution Center and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The traveling exhibition has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War” is based on an exhibition of the same name developed by the National Constitution Center.

Using the U.S. Constitution as the cohesive thread, “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War” focuses on Lincoln’s struggle to meet the political and constitutional challenges of the Civil War. Organized thematically, the exhibition explores how Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the war—the secession of Southern states, slavery and wartime civil liberties.

“We are honored to have been selected to host this impressive traveling exhibit and hope that everyone will have an opportunity to see Lincoln “up close” while experiencing the panels that are based on a difficult time in our nation’s history,” said Lora Mirza, interim library director on the Dunwoody Campus.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours. GPC’s Dunwoody Campus is located at 2101 Womack Road, Dunwoody. For information, contact Lora Mirza at 770-274-5091.
