GPC Keeping Students, Employees Safe 06/13/2013 Georgia Perimeter College Office of Public Safety ensures the wellbeing of students, faculty, staff and visitors at the institution’s six locations. Public Safety officers will maintain normal procedures, including patrolling the campuses and offering escorts to and from buildings to motor vehicles.
Students needing an escort from car to class or vice versa must call 678-891-3940 and request the escort from the GPC dispatch center. Once an officer arrives, he or she will escort the caller to their vehicle. The service is free and available to all students, faculty, staff and visitors.
“What happened recently on the Clarkston Campus is currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Since the victim was not affiliated with GPC, the investigation will be handled as though it were a random act of violence,” said GPC Police Chief Nicholas Marinelli. “It is important to note that GPC has an outstanding safety record. And we will continue to be vigilant and dedicated to the public safety needs of all students, faculty, staff and visitors.”
The body found on the Georgia Perimeter College Clarkston Campus on June 10 is identified as Alpha Oumar Diallo, 23, of Stone Mountain. An autopsy performed on Diallo revealed that he died as a result of strangulation and blunt force injuries to the head, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Two suspects have been arrested.
Diallo was not enrolled at Georgia Perimeter. He was a citizen of French Guinea in West Africa, and a resident of the United States since 2008.
