Qualified students seeking a bachelor of engineering degree may study at Georgia State University's Perimeter College with the Regents Engineering Transfer curriculum. Upon successful completion of the PC/RETP engineering curriculum described below, students will be highly considered for admission to the Georgia Institute of Technology to complete the requirements for a baccalaureate engineering degree. It is expected that students on this track, like other Georgia Tech graduates, will normally require four to five and one-half years to complete the degree requirements, depending on their pre-college preparation, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and engineering major.

Perimeter College faculty and administration work closely with Georgia Tech's faculty to assure a curriculum which is well-coordinated with both Perimeter College and Georgia Tech. Once in every spring term students will visit the Georgia Tech campus and meet with advisors of their anticipated major.

To be considered for admission as a RETP student, a student must meet the following requirements. Please also review the documents linked on this page for more detailed information.

  1. Follow these steps in this order:

    1. Apply to Perimeter College and enroll as a student in the engineering major at Perimeter College.

    2. Finish MATH 1111.

    3. See a RETP coordinator (Engineering faculty member) for your first meeting to create a course plan for you to complete for RETP.

    4. Finish MATH 2211/2431 (Calculus 1).

    5. See your RETP coordinator to enroll in RETP.  There is a new online form that you will fill out during this meeting.  The old paper form is no longer used.  You cannot enrool in RETP until after completing or testing out of MATH 2211/2431.  At this meeting, we will check your progress towards completing the requirements, and are happy to meet with you each semester to discuss progress towards completion.

  2. Completion of the PC-RETP required course list within the following parameters:

RETP students are subject to the following requirements. (This will apply to those applying to begin at Georgia Tech in Summer 2017)

  • Students must have at least a 3.2 GPA overall. A 3.3 cumulative GPA is required for Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial, and Chemical & Biomolecular engineering majors.
  • Students must have at least a 3.2 GPA in Math and Science requirements (combined). A 3.3 combined Math/Science GPA is required for Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial, and Chemical & Biomolecular engineering majors.
  • Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA in engineering requirements.
  • Students must complete RETP Group IV (humanities) requirements with a grade of C or better in each course.

The requirements for students applying to Georgia Tech for semesters prior to Summer 2017 are as follows:

  • Students must complete EACH of the first three groups (ENGR, MATH, SCIENCE) of the required course list with a minimum group GPA of 3.0.
  • Students must complete the first three groups of the required course list with a minimum COMBINED GPA of 3.0.
  • Students must complete the fourth group of the required course list with a grade of C or better in each course.

  1. Complete the Georgia Tech Transfer Application (online via: http://www.apply.gatech.edu) by the March 1st application deadline for Fall semester, January 15th for Summer semester, or September 15th for Spring semester. You will need to select the RETP transfer option and supply your coordinator’s name and email address.

  1. Pay the application fee online.
  1. Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended to Georgia Tech. If you have attended any other college or university other than your home institution, it is necessary for you to send those transcripts as well. For institutions outside the US, a Course-by-Course with GPA evaluation from either Josef Silny (www.jsilny.com) or World Education Services (www.wes.org) is mandatory
  1. Completion of the online recommendation form by a coordinator. Your coordinator will be emailed the request and will submit the recommendation before the document deadline for your application.

Note: Please print a copy of your Georgia Tech Transfer Application for your records.

Those students admitted to Perimeter College and who satisfactorily complete the GPC/RETP engineering curriculum, are also encouraged to earn an associate degree at Perimeter College as indicated on the required course list.
