Building Success: One STEP at a Time
Georgia Perimeter College (GPC) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program (STEP), is a grant funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). STEP seeks to increase the number of students (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) receiving associate or baccalaureate degrees in established or emerging fields within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
What are our goals?

To increase the number of all students who enroll in STEM fields.

To increase the number of students who graduate/transfer to four year institutions to complete their STEM bachelor's degree.
Minimum Criteria for Participation
First Time Students Must Be:
• U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
• Enrolled or accepted into GPC
• Planning to graduate with an associate degree in a STEM field
Current/Returning Students Must:
• Maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.8 and a minimum semester GPA of 2.5
• Be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) during the fall and spring semesters
• Participate in a minimum of 10 hours of civic engagement activities per semester
• Participate at a rate of 90 percent attendance of supplemental instruction (freshmen only)
• Participate in six STEM-related activities each semester

• Supplemental Instruction
• College Visits
• STEM Learning Communities
Building the STEM Resume:
• Research/Internship Opportunities
• Career Workshop Seminars
• Industry Visits
STEP Scholars Support
Summer Bridge (SB) Scholars Will Receive:
• Summer Bridge I (SBI) - $500
• Summer Bridge II (SB II) - $1,000
• Summer Bridge III (SB III) - $1,000
During the Academic Year:
• Freshmen- $500 stipend
• Sophomore- $ 800 stipend
• Supplemental Instruction Leader $600
• Travel funds will be provided for participants
Academic Year Stipend Eligibility Requirements:
• Enroll full-time in a STEM discipline
• Attend advisement sessions
• Attend seminars/workshops
• Participate in the virtual learning Community
• Participate in minimum of six STEM activities
• Participate in 10 hours of community service per semester
