Georgia Perimeter College prides itself on the role that it is playing in expanding the STEM pipeline by improving student success in the STEM fields and by increasing the number of students prepared for and enrolled in STEM degree programs. USG STEM Initiative II
Faculty Mini-grant Program
The STEM Faculty Mini-grant program is geared toward engaging faculty at the participating institutions in developing novel methods for improving instruction approaches or content delivery focused on student achievement in postsecondary STEM education or STEM teacher preparation. Mini-grants also should meet challenges specific to that institutionís culture or mission. To learn more about the program or to apply for a mini-grant, click here.
STEM Workshops and Symposia
The STEM-related workshops and symposia are designed to deepen engagement by providing College faculty and K-12 faculty with opportunities for professional development. Topics vary and workshops are held throughout the academic year on different GPC campuses. Visit the Calendar of Events for the workshop schedule.
PLUS Session Tutorials
The peer-led tutorial program provides students with peer instruction. Tutorials are available on all campuses for the following classes:

STEM Student Scholar Recognition Program
The STEM Student Scholar Recognition Program is a way to honor GPC's high achieving STEM students who have excelled over and beyond their peers. The awards program is held each spring semester.
College Career Day and TAG Fairs
GPC understands the importance of providing opportunities for students to understand more about STEM careers. Therefore, each spring semester, the Office of STEM Initiatives in collaboration with the GPC Foundation host career day where panels of professionals discuss with the students career paths. In the fall semester, TAG fairs are held to assist students who are transferring to four-year institutions with transfer and graduation goals and aspirations.
Student Internships/Research Experiences

The goal of BreakThru, a National Science Foundation funded program, is to increase the number of students with disabilities who choose a STEM discipline as major. This grant is in collaboration with The University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. Students can benefit from the following:
∑ Student stipends

∑ On-line mentoring
∑ Introduction to and utilization of computer-assisted learning software
The goal of the ENLISTEM is to recruit and award scholarships each project year to thirty-two (32) financially needy and academically talented students who are enrolled in a course of study leading to an associate degree in a STEM discipline, thereby increasing the likelihood of participants transferring and completing a bachelorís degree at a 4-year institution. The program, funded by the National Science Foundation, awards scholarships to academically talented students who demonstrate financial need, and who are enrolled in a course of study leading to an associate degree in a STEM discipline. The goal of the ENLISTEM Scholarship Program is to provide improved educational opportunities for students by improving student support programs for STEM participants and by removing financial barriers that higher education often presents.

One of the country's most innovative and successful programs, Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) provides support for educationally disadvantaged students so they excel in math and science and graduate with baccalaureate degrees in science, engineering, computer science, and other math-based fields. MESA provides academic support to students through three programs: the MESA Schools Program, the MESA Community College Program (MCCP), and the MESA Engineering Program.
The GPC MESA program, supported by the USG STEM Initiative, is housed on the Clarkston Campus and is based on the highly successful MESA MCCP. GPC MESA students benefit from academic excellence workshops; academic advising/counseling; assistance with the transfer process to a 4-year institution; career advising; summer research/internship opportunities; and, linkages with student and professional organizations.

The goal of the Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, a National Science Foundation funded grant, is to increase the enrollment, retention and graduation rates of underrepresented minorities in STEM Alliance higher education institutions. Other alliance institutions include: The University of Georgia, Fort Valley State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Kennesaw State University, Savannah State University and Southern Polytechnic State University. PSLSAMP Scholars have the advantage of:

The Georgia Perimeter College Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program (STEP), is a grant funded by the National Science Foundation. The goal of the STEP 5-year grant is to increase the number of students who enroll in all STEM fields and to increase the number of students who graduate and/or transfer to 4-year colleges/universities to complete baccalaureate degrees. The project will engage 500 pre-college students and serve 90 full-time STEM students each year. STEP Scholars have the benefit of participating in the following:

Research Experience for Undergraduates
Additionally, there is the Freshman Year Focus which includes STEM Learning Clusters and STEM mentoring; and the Sophomore Year Focus in which students attend technical workshops/seminars and participate in college and industry visits.
