Jon Shive is a native of North Carolina. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education and an Associate Degree in Interpreting for the Deaf. In his twenty-one years of professional interpreting, Jon's experiences have included educational, freelance, platform, medical/mental health and video relay interpreting and video remote interpreting. He has also been an adjunct professor in several Interpreter Training Programs. Jon holds CI and CT certifications from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and and EIPA Level 5. He has been in membership with GA, NC and FL Affiliate chapters of RID, American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), and the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT). He has also served on the Board of Directors for NCRID and is currently the Mentorship Chairperson for GaRID. Jon loves his position on the GPC faculty and enjoys working with students to achieve their best. He is currently working on his Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University. He and his two dogs, Zak and Zoe, have set down their roots and now call Georgia home.
