The Office of Information Technology in conjunction with Records Management has implemented SunGard Higher Education’s XtenderSolutions Suite as its imaging solution. The Admissions and Financial Aid departments piloted the initial implementation.
The XtenderSolutions Project is an imaging and document management suite specifically designed for higher education that launches documents and content directly from Banner (SIS) as well as providing secure access to materials unrelated to Banner (SIS) or other SunGard Higher Education systems. This client/server and web-based solution provides imaging, document management, data capture, storage management, and output capture for individual departments and for the entire institution.
The model for this implementation began as a centralized imaging process for the college. The Records Center on Clarkston Campus was initially responsible for the imaging and storage of all documents. In November 2007, a pilot satellite imaging office was tested in Dunwoody with plans of possible expansion to other campus locations.
Paper documents will be held for a limited time. Once the documents have been verified they will be destroyed. The electronic images will be the legal copy and maintained in the data store as long as required. Other GPC departments will be phased in as priorities and scheduling permit.
