Catalog Description

This course is designed to enable the student to experience modern dance as an art form.  This will be done through class participation and discussions on various elements of modern dance.  The student will learn basic technique, elementary choreographic fundamentals, and an appreciation of dance.

Expected Educational Results

After completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Define modern dance as an art form
2. Demonstrate basic modern dance technique
3. Measure individual improvements in muscle fitness and flexibility
4. Explain the fundamentals of choreography
5. Identify an awareness and appreciation of human movement
6. Trace the development of movement and dance
