Catalog Description

This course is designed for the beginning tennis player. The goal is to help the beginner develop the basic skills of serving, receiving, forehand, backhand, and volley.  Additionally, the course will cover playing strategy, rules, and scoring.

Expected Educational Results

As a result of successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a basic overhead serve
  2. Demonstrate the forehand drive
  3. Demonstrate the backhand drive
  4. Demonstrate skills for the aerial game
  5. State the basic rules of tennis
  6. Describe the steps of scoring in a game, set, and match
  7. Improve their cardiorespiratory fitness level
