Catalog Description


This course is a team activity dealing with the basic fundamentals of basketball: i.e., rebounding, dribbling, pivoting, passing, shooting, faking, footwork, and defensive skills.  Some strategy and team play are introduced.

Expected Educational Results

As a result of successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the basic skills of basketball: i.e., dribbling, pivoting, passing, shooting, faking, footwork, and

     rebounding.
2. Identify and demonstrate offensive patterns of play.
3. Identify and demonstrate defensive patterns of play.
4. Explain the scoring system.
5. Define appropriate terms related to basketball.
6. Explain the rules of the game as they apply to offense and defense.
7. Improve their cardiorespiratory fitness level
