There are 3 different paths of Distance Learning/iCollege Training. Please select the statement that best fits your desires to see more information. 1. I want to teach a distance learning course using a GPC Online template. I want to teach an online or hybrid course using a template that I have been given by GPC Online. 2. I want to teach a distance learning course. I want to teach an online or hybrid course using iCollege. I will create the course from scratch. OR I am already teaching an online or hybrid course and I need to learn more about iCollege tools such as: assesments, discussions, and the gradebook. 3. I want to enhance my face-to-face classes. I want to enhance a F2F course with distance learning technology such as iCollege.

For people who are currently using iCollege we have some supplemental training options available: Respondus- Quiz/Text/Exam and Survey Generation for iCollege Wimba Voice- Adding Voice Discussion Boards, Voice Chat, and Voice Recordings to iCollege Wimba Classroom- Adding Web Conferencing to iCollege Wimba Create- Creating HTML (Webpages) using a MS Word document that includes interactivity for use in iCollege Training Schedule

2. I want to teach a distance learning course.

DDLC (Designing A Distance Learning Course) is an eight week training class that combines online and face-to-face meetings.
Each week covers one of 8 different topics to help you develop a distance learning course. Each topic becomes available on Monday morning at 8:00am. Some topics can be completed completely online at your own pace-- These are the asynchronous topics. Other topics can be completed online at certain times or in face-to-face session. These are the synchronous topics.
Days/Times for each topic will we posted in the online class inside iCollege. You will have access to iCollege after registering to take the DDLC class.

Getting Acquainted/Necessary Technology For DL	Online/Asynchronous *Becomes available at 8am on Monday. You can work at your own pace between Monday 8am and Sunday 11:45pm	Introduction to iCollege fromt he student perspective. Topics include navigating a course using iCollege, using communication tools such as Email, Calendar, Roster, and Discussions. Exploration of the types of technology to be used in a DL course.
Learner Support In A DL Environment	Online/Asynchronous *Becomes available at 8am on Monday. You can work at your own pace between Monday 8am and Sunday 11:45pm	Learner Support is the support that students need to be successful in the distance learning environment including discoverinly learning styles and online office hours. Technical Support as well as support from the Library, Disability Services, Testing, and Tutoring Services will be explored.
Designing Core DL Documents	Online/Asynchronous *Becomes available at 8am on Monday. You can work at your own pace between Monday 8am and Sunday 11:45pm	Produce a Syllabus and other core documents for use in a distance learning course.
Designing Course Materials	Synchronously Online: Times for participation ill be listed inside the iCollege class. Synchronously Face-to-Face: Times/Location for participation will be listed inside the iCollege class.	Exploration of the software, content, and tools that can be used in a distance learning course.
Course Materials	Synchronously Online: Times for participation ill be listed inside the iCollege class. Synchronously Face-to-Face: Times/Location for participation will be listed inside the iCollege class.	Learn to use iCollege tools such as Syllabus, File Manager, Files, Web Links, Goals, Grading Forms, and Learning Modules
Communication Tools	Synchronously Online: Times for participation ill be listed inside the iCollege class. Synchronously Face-to-Face: Times/Location for participation will be listed inside the iCollege class.	Learn to use iCollege tools such as Announcements, Calendar, Chat, Discussions (journaling and blogging) , and Mail. Add-on communication tools will also be discussed.
Assessments And Assignments	Synchronously Online: Times for participation ill be listed inside the iCollege class. Synchronously Face-to-Face: Times/Location for participation will be listed inside the iCollege class.	Learn to use iCollege tools such as Assessments and Assignments.
Managing A Section	Synchronously Online: Times for participation ill be listed inside the iCollege class. Synchronously Face-to-Face: Times/Location for participation will be listed inside the iCollege class.	How to set up your sections each semester, how to setup selective release criteria, how to use the Grade Book, track student progress, setup groups, and manage communications.



1. I want to teach a distance learning course using a GPC Online template.
GPC Online offers training that will get you started teaching online using a pre-designed GPC Online approved template. GPC Online offers this training to faculty who are teaching online for the first time and are on the schedule to teach an online class. (Please see the GPC Online website for more information on getting started teaching online and contact information for the Online Discipline Coordinators.) This training is not a subsitute or "short cut" for more intensive training that teaches all aspects of using iCollege and online pedagogy. Entrance into this training is at the discretion of GPC Online.
