Faculty Services at the Alpharetta Center Library

Requesting Library Instruction – Librarians are available to teach classes how to find and use print, non-print, and electronic resources for their class assignments. We will also be glad to work with you to assure that we have proper materials to support your assignments.

Requesting Faculty Use Only Videos & DVDs – Videos designated “Clarkston Faculty Use Only” in the GIL catalog may be reserved in advance for classroom use. For “Popular" videos that are part of the regular circulating collection, we can extend the due dates to allow ample time for faculty to review and use the video in class.

Placing Materials on Reserve – Faculty or departments may place books and other media on course reserve for use by their students. Bring the materials to the library and tell us the loan period and whether the item can be removed from the library. GPC library materials may be placed on reserve for your class for short periods of time. GIL Express and ILL items cannot be placed on course reserve. Except in special circumstances, the required textbook for the course may be put on course reserve for only the first two weeks of the semester. This provides students access to the text until their purchased copies arrive at the bookstore; textbooks may not be placed on reserve as a substitute for student purchase. Please allow about a week for processing, more at the beginning of the semester.

Faculty Tutorials - Find out how to use library resources in your icollege class or website.  You can embed video tutorials, link to articles, videos and e-books in GALILEO, or use the library catalog to create a list of resources for your students.  These step-by-step guides will show you how.

Request Materials for Purchase – The library welcomes requests from faculty, staff, and students for books, videos, and other items to add to our collection. We also appreciate faculty input about materials that may be useful for student assignments. If you would like to be available to advise us about materials, particularly with accreditation in mind, please let us know!

Loans from other libraries: Intercampus, GIL Express, and Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Request materials from other campuses through the GIL@GPC Classic catalog. Most materials not available at other GPC campus libraries may be borrowed through GIL Express or Interlibrary Loan. GIL Express requests may be placed through the GIL Universal Catalog. Interlibrary Loan requests can be place by coming to the library or using our online ILL Request form.
