Travel Funding

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers faculty the opportunity to apply for partial or full funding to travel to teaching and learning conferences. This funding opportunity is extended 2 times per calendar year. (For AY 2012-13 CTL travel grants will not be available, due to budget restrictions.)

Application Deadline For Travel Dates:
August 31 September1-January 31
January 20 February 1 - May 31
May 1 June 1 - July 31

Essential to this offer is the agreement that the faculty member receiving funding will present at least two (2) CTL-sponsored workshops, based upon the material from the conference, to benefit the faculty of Georgia Perimeter College.

Funding is competitive. The amount of funding approved is dependent upon four main factors:

  1. The relevance of the conference to teaching and learning in a broad sense (not discipline-specific).
  2. The quality and relevance of the accompanying workshop proposal to teaching and learning at GPC. The broader the audience, the greater the applicability of the conference information to a large number of GPC faculty, the greater the likelihood of funding.
  3. Whether the faculty member is attending only or presenting at the conference
  4. The availability of travel funds in the Center for Teaching and Learning budget.
The Center for Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee will review applications and submit recommendations to the CTL Director on the allocation of funds to faculty submitting applications.

A list of teaching and learning conferences can be found at the Conferences page of this web site. Of course, this list is not exhaustive. Faculty are welcome to apply for travel to other conferences not listed. The main criterion for conferences to be considered is that the conference address teaching and learning (as opposed to content in a specific discipline).

Applications should be well thought-out, well written and highly applicable to teaching and learning at Georgia Perimeter College.
