JOHN NOEL WHEELER holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Theory/Composition from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and a Master of Music Degree in Music Composition from the University of Georgia. He has substantial post-graduate credit in Music Composition and Musicology. Mr. Wheeler's collegiate study began at Georgia Perimeter College, formerly Dekalb College, on the Clarkston campus, where he studied trombone with the late Dr. Thomas Anderson, former department chair of Fine Arts, Clarkston campus Provost, and conductor of the Dekalb Symphony.
Mr. Wheeler joined the Faculty of the Fine Arts Department of Georgia Perimeter College in 2002. He is an instructor of Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals on several GPC campuses and he has also led the student Jazz combo at Clarkston. He is an active member of GPC's Community Wind Ensemble.
Mr. Wheeler is an active composer in Metro Atlanta where he composes both traditional and electronic music for a wide variety of instrumental and vocal combinations.
