Slava Michael Prudchenko

SLAVA MICHAEL PRUDCHENKO, Assistant Professor of Music and Wind Ensemble Conductor at Georgia Perimeter College.

Mr. Prudchenko received an extensive training in music. He received a Certificate of Completion of his Advanced Postgraduate Studies (ABD), Master’s Degree (with Honors) of Fine Arts from the National P. Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine (formerly known as P. Tchaikovsky Kiev State Conservatory), and Bachelor’s Degree (with Honors) from R. Gliere State Music College. He studied with such distinguished Ukrainian flute professors as Jaroslav Verhovinetz and the late Vladimir Antonov.

In the past Mr. Prudchenko served as:

Guest Conductor & Adjudicator for the Atlanta Flute Fair (2005-07),

Volunteer Conductor for the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Orchestra (2003-04), 

Band/Orchestra Director at Piper High School (Florida)  (2001-03),

Vice-President of the Ukrainian Flute Association (1998-99),

Principal flutist of the Kiev Symphony Orchestra & Chorus (1995-2000),

Flutist of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Opera House of Ukraine (1992-2000),

Member of the Woodwind Quintet at the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine (1993-95).

Slava performed many recitals and took part in various festivals, performances, and master classes across the USA, Ukraine, France, and Germany (1992-now). Slava earned the First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Khmelnitsky (Ukraine, 1993). Mr. Prudchenko is an active solo/ensemble performer, conductor, educator, and adjudicator. Besides being a Conductor of the Georgia Perimeter College Wind Ensemble he also teaches various music classes such as Music Theory 1, Ear Training 1, Music Fundamentals, Applied Woodwinds, Survey of Music Literature, Music Appreciation, Music Appreciation Online, and Music Fundamentals Online.

For six years Slava was a member of the flute quartet “Perimeter Flutes”, well-known in the Atlanta, GA area. With this group he performed at the 39th Annual Flute Association Convention in Charlotte, NC. He performs in a regular GPC faculty recital series with Ginger Chen, piano. 

In the past Slava have performed numerous solo/ensemble/orchestral works across Ukraine and the U.S. in such famous concert halls as Carnegie Hall in NY, NY; Severance Hall in Cleveland, OH; Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA; Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC; Coral Ridge in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Duke University Chapel in Durham, NC; St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta, GA; Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, CA; National Philharmonic Hall in Kiev, Ukraine; St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kiev, Ukraine; Piccolo Spoleto Festival, Charleston, SC;  and many others.

Mr. Prudchenko is also a webmaster and web designer of both GPC Wind Ensemble and GPC Music Program websites.
