The Department of Fine Arts encourages academic excellence by providing students with up-to-date facilities and equipment. Continually updated computer labs support hardware and software currently used in the graphics and music industry. There are private sound and video studios for student and faculty research, teaching, and practice, and larger performance studios for ensemble and group rehearsals. Facilities include painting/drawing and design studios, ceramics shop, photography, wood shop, student performance studio, costume shop, green room, movement and staging room, 12 individual practice studios, and five technology equipped classrooms. The 2000 square foot Clarkston Fine Arts North Gallery, The Fine Arts South Student Gallery, the Clarkston 4th floor LRC Cherry gallery, the Dunwoody LRC Gallery, the Newton LRC Gallery, the Decatur Dean's Gallery and Decatur Student Gallery host numerous exhibitions of student, regional, national, and international artists. The student performance studio at Clarkston allows for experimental musical and theatrical productions in a technologically innovative environment.
The 500 seat Marvin Cole Auditorium with proscenium stage, orchestra pit, state of the art lighting, sound, recording, and projection equipment, supports fully staged theatrical productions.
