| Catalog Description | |
Individual instruction is offered in the fundamentals of musical performance through technical studies and appropriate literature. This course is not intended for music majors. It meets once a week for 25 minutes (1702) or 50 minutes (1705) during the semester. It may be repeated for four semesters. | |
| Expected Educational Results | |
As a result of completing this course, the student will be able to: -acquire the fundamental techniques of singing or playing their instrument thereby enabling them to enjoy a vocational musical performance -to prepare the prospective music major with the necessary repertoire to audition for the principal or major level of applied lessons | |

The technical and performance standards expected in this course are derived from the exercises, etudes and solo compositions individually selected to fit the student's performing medium, level of advancement, and technical problem needs. | |
| Course Content | |
This course meets 25 minutes per week in which assigned material is used as the basis for instruction in technical and stylistic aspects of music performance. The student is expected to practice outside of the lesson meeting a minimum of one hour a day for MUSC 1702 and two hours a day for MUSC 1705. | |
