Center for Organizational Development
The Georgia Department of Labor has approved the Georgia Perimeter College (GPC) Project Management Employment Program for Georgians looking for employment. Funding is available through the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) through the Georgia Department of Labor. These funds will allow those who are trying to find work in the job market to acquire additional training in the field of project management.
Project management is a career option that is projected to have strong job growth within the next decade according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. To find out if you qualify for WIA funding, contact your local Career Resource Center and speak with a Career Advisor.
The program will be administered by the GPC Center for Organizational Development. The training will be delivered in partnership with TenStep, Inc., a globally recognized leader in project management consulting and training. This program provides candidates with training in fundamental project management and prepares them to take the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification examination administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Effective resume writing, interviewing and job search networking topics will also be covered to better prepare the candidate to enter the job market.
This 120 hour course consists of instructor-led classes, self-study and classroom participation including managing an interactive project simulation. The cost of this course is $5,000, payable by the WIA program. This price includes all fees for taking the exam, classroom materials and the current version of “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge”, the basis for the PMP® Exam. Job market experts will also be invited into the classroom to provide insight into the current job market trends and potential possibilities for the candidates. To qualify for this program, each potential candidate will be required to complete a Qualification Form detailing their work history since an integral portion of this program prepares the student for applying for and taking the PMP® Exam. Project management experience and education guidelines required by PMI for the PMP® Exam application must be met to participate. The qualification form is available here.
