Quizzes, tests, and exams in iCollege can be setup to require students to download and use a special web browser called Respondus LockDown Browser (RLDB). RLDB does not allow students to open other programs or perform access other websites while the quiz, test, or exam is in progress. In addition to Respondus LockDown Browser, Respondus Monitor (requires RLDB) can record a student while taking a quiz, test, or exam.
From the iCollege Quiz tool, an instructor can enable a quiz, test, or exam to REQUIRE students to download and use the Respondus LockDown Browser to access that quiz, test, or exam. If enabled, students cannot use a regular web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Google Chrome, or FireFox to access the quiz, test, or exam.
The Office of Information Technology recommends that you notify an Instructional Technologist prior to using RLDB in a classroom setting to ensure the room is properly configured.
In order to enhance Respondus LockDown Browser, instructors can also enable Respondus Monitor to record a student while they take a quiz, test, or exam that uses Respondus LockDown Browser.
Students may need to download and install the Respondus LockDown Browser on their personal computer if the instructor requires it. When accessing a quiz, test, or exam that requires RLDB, a link for downloading will be provided. RLDB is not supported on mobile devices.
Students must have webcam for quizzes, tests, or exams that also require Respondus Monitor.
