James Waldon is in his 15th year as the head coach of the Georgia Perimeter College women’s basketball team and his 31st year coaching overall. Waldon looks to continue the success that landed the Jaguars in the national tournament in six of the past eight seasons—for four consecutive years from 2005-2008 and twice more in 2011 and 2012.

Waldon heads into the 2012-2013 campaign with only one returning player from last season’s 31-6 squad, which made the Elite Eight in the national tournament. Returning the team to Salina, Kansas, certainly will be a goal.

Waldon has recorded 259 wins and 172 losses during his tenure at Georgia Perimeter.

After graduating from Edward Waters College, Waldon accepted an assistant coaching position at Lake City Community College for the 1982-1983 season. He returned to Edward Waters as the Men’s Basketball head coach for the next three years. His coaching resume also includes stops at Southern Polytechnical College, head coach at Earl Paulk College and assistant coach for four seasons and head coach for two seasons with the Atlanta Trojans of the United States Basketball League.

In 2006, Waldon was selected as trials court coach for USA Basketball’s FIBA Americas U20 Championship for women team trials.

Waldon is married to the former Karen Slay of Brunswick, Georgia. The Waldon’s have two children, James Jr. and Rachel, and reside in Conyers.
