The dean of two-year college soccer in the Southeast, head coach Marc Zagara was inducted in 2009 to the National Junior College Athletics Association Hall of Fame.
As Zagara enters his 20th year at the helm of the men’s soccer program at Georgia Perimeter College, he has taken the Jaguars to six appearances at the NJCAA national tournament in seven years. He led the Jaguars to the national championship in 2005. His teams were national runners-up in 2004, 2007 and 2009 and finished in fifth place in 2006 and 2008.
Starting from scratch in 1992, Zagara has built a soccer powerhouse that is regularly ranked in the top 15 nationally. In his soccer coaching career, Zagara has compiled a 388-151-20 record, while at GPC he has a phenomenal 313-78-14 record. His Jaguars have won 13 NJCAA Region 17 championships in 19 years (Georgia Junior College Athletic Association).
Georgia Perimeter has made the eight-team NJCAA national tournament in nine of the past 15 years. Zagara’s teams have produced 32 All Americans, and 13 players have gone on to play professional soccer in Europe, South America, Central America, Australia and the United States.
A native of Pittsford, N.Y., where he excelled in athletics, Zagara earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Clemson University. He began his teaching and coaching career at the Community College of the Fingerlakes in Canadaigua, N.Y. In his seven years as head coach at Fingerlakes, Zagara established school records for most victories in women’s soccer, men’s soccer and baseball.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Zagara is an assistant professor of economics on the Dunwoody Campus. He serves as national chairperson of the National Soccer Coaches of America selection committee for the junior college All-America team and as NSCAA’s national chair for the junior college Coach of the Year selection committee.
Ron Moore

Ron Moore is in his 18th year as an assistant coach with the Jaguars’ men’s soccer program. With more than 30 years of coaching experience, Moore has coached in both youth leagues and adult leagues.
He holds a USSF national coaching license, has been a Georgia state soccer coaching course instructor for more than 15 years and is an ODP player evaluator. Moore is a former Georgia amateur senior men’s ODP coach. He served on the executive and full board of Georgia State Soccer for 15 years.
In 1991 The Atlanta German Counsel General’s office asked Moore to organize and host two games between the German men’s Budaslega team and the Atlanta adult men’s all-star team. The host team, coached by Moore, defeated the visiting Germans 5-4 and 3-2.
In 2002, Moore received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Georgia State Soccer Association for his outstanding service to Georgia soccer for more than 25 years.
