Abstract

The goal of this workshop is to help faculty improve their teaching through a global approach.  Approaching global issues through literature that is multicultural, is a useful strategy to engage students, and assist them in connecting global issues into their own lives.  Literature helps to reinforce many primary purposes of education by providing opportunity for students to expand their intellect, and emotions.  Applying a global approach to teaching, prepares students for academic survival in a collegiate environment, and the world in which we live.  Literature is an authentic way for faculty to encourage the development of a multicultural reading lifestyle in their students.  This workshop will utilize tools for faculty to bring global perspective to core subjects, through a global approach.
