Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Member, Retired 2011

Zrolka Named  Outstanding Retired Faculty Member

Patricia Zrolka is this year’s Retired Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year.

Zrolka retired in 2010 after 20 years of teaching math at DeKalb College and GPC.  In her tenure, she has received the Outstanding Teaching Award for the Decatur campus and a NISOD Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Texas in Austin.  Zrolka also was named a college-wide Cole Fellow, which is the highest honor of faculty achievement that GPC delegates.  She enjoys contributing to conferences through presentations at AMATYC, the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.

Theodore Wadley, English Department Chair says of Zrolka, “Mathematics is rarely our students’ favorite subject, but Pat Zrolka was extremely popular with students because of their outstanding rate of success in her classes, as well as her benevolent, no-nonsense approach to teaching.”
